A trip to Etsy.

On March 30, 2012 I traveled to NY for the Etsy Success Symposium.  It was very exciting to see where Etsy operates.  I was happy when the notice came over my shop Beach House Living was selected from the wait list.

I got a ride to the pier and took a ferry to Wall Street. Any excuse for a boat ride!

Then I took another Ferry over to Brooklyn. It was literally a four minute ride.
Across from the dock on the Brooklyn side sits the legendary River Cafe.

A bit lost a fellow ferry rider helped me select the right path.  Actually, she escorted me the entire way.

I was amazed at how clean the streets were. NY like I had not ever seen before.
Some were cobblestone!

So many happy looking people and friendly nods.

It's no wonder Etsy decided to make this part of Brooklyn called DUMBO their home.

The symposium was buzzing with excitement.  I sat near a vintage shop owner that had traveled from Florida and another that calls the Williamsburg part Brooklyn home named Amy whose shop is Sweet Olive Jewelry
Amy also owns Sweet Olive Supplies that has a wonderful selection of beads, pearls and gemstone briolettes all of which look like candy.

Amy offered me some great tips for soldering. I tried in the past but, need more practice.

At the end of the day on the way back to the ferry I snapped a few photos of places I saw in the morning.

One was this glass enclosed carousel ride.

This iron gate was fabulous.

So was the entire structure with numerous arches and more iron.

This quote was painted to the right of the arched iron gate.  I thought it was one of the most powerful single sentences I have ever read.

Till next time!

Featuring Carolyn Cochrane Fine Art Photography

Every time I see the work of Carolyn Cochrane it makes me smile.  It puts me back to the time when turquoise waters and shells  were  a part of my everyday life and where I long to return once again.

Images that take me back to feeling the warm sand beneath my feet at one of the worlds most beautiful beaches; Magen's Bay in the US. Virgin Islands.

Carolyn has dabbled in a number of creative pursuits but found her passion in photography. Her style; uncluttered and simple is powerful at the same time.

Can't you almost hear soft waves in this one?

Spot that perfect specimen sitting like a jewel?

Be amused by the skittish little sandpipers that flit around and run to the edge of the water only to run back away from it seconds later.

Enjoy a small stretch of the beach all to yourself.

Carolyn is captivated by the combination of light, textures and shapes around her and happiest with her camera in hand on a nice day.

She then takes those images and manipulates them to enhance color but, not too far from what nature herself does perfectly well.

Carolyn hails from New Jersey but you can purchase her work on Etsy at Carolyn Cochrane.
