Bathroom tea set

When you have teeny tiny alleged master bathroom
that is smaller then most yachts
and
it's 1940's pink from the floor to the tiled walls

You find yourself looking for eye catching accessories while you
dream it's actually blinding white on white with a navy blue floor.

I was told this is called a "melon" style.

Usually, I would have walked away based on the condition,
but its shape was so different from anything in my collection.

The sugar and creamer are quite large compared to all the others.

Cotton cosmetic pads, makeup brushes and hair brushes
have a found a new home.
It's now the first thing I see. Thank goodness!

Vintage baby tub with iron stand

I've been wanting one of these for a long time.  A vintage Hungarian baby tub.

They are just the cutest and so versatile.
Fill them with linens, plants, shells and stuff.

Great for parties just put a cork in fill with ice and
bottled beverages of your choice.

How about an immense shrimp tub?

It would also work well to give our dirty little dogs
a bath. Now where is that dog shampoo?
Have a great week everyone.

Holiday colored lobster float

This little holiday colored lobster float was just too cute to leave at the flea market.

Red and Green colored holiday decorations have pretty much been banished from the living room and dining rooms so this is just perfect for outside!

Vintage Robin Hood beach bicycle. Nostalgia wins

I smiled as I rang the true vintage bicycle bell.  Shaking off childhood memories, I kept walking to see what other finds the auctioneer might have going on up the block.

When it became "her" turn the assistant presented her in such a way the small tip of chrome on the front fender gleamed where it had not yet rusted.  "Very collectible folks.  Made in England."

Bikes aren't made like this one anymore.

That's when it hit me. That little piece of chrome reminded me of the bicycle my eldest sister had when we were kids.  Her's was a gorgeous slightly metallic dark blue green, made in England that she won in a holiday card selling contest held by where we went to school.  She looked quite chic riding it home the first time in her school uniform.  I will never forget the smile on her face.

The auctioneer's voice sounded far off in the distance when my subconscious mind decided I had to have Ms. Robin Hood.  My heart began to race and a lump formed in my throat.  If I win I'll ride in her in honor of my "best sister" as we were known to call each other.  Images of her turning around and asking if I was okay when I used to try to keep with her during our bicycling together flashed through my brain.  She often had to stop and wait for me.

Holding up the number seven (7) bidders card which I had commented might bring luck when it was handed to me during registration I felt my sister was with me in spirit....There was no way Ms. Robin Hood wasn't going home with me as long as she had anything to say about it.  I just knew it.

"Number 7 thank you"

Tears welled up in my eyes as I stepped up,
grasped the handle bars and wheeled away my prize.
That, and for some inexplicable reason felt the need to explain why I bid.

"It reminds me of my sister's bike when we were kids.
She passed some time ago.  She was only 27."

A few other attendees went awwww and the assistant said
"There you go; it was meant to be"

My dearly beloved couldn't believe it since I have only ridden my "new" bike 4-6 times in over a decade of owning it. Actually, neither do I.

While some of you may be participating in the cycling challenge with Sande from A Gift Wrapped Life,

I will be riding with my sister when I'm feeling up to it.

Happily ringing "our" American flagged old fashioned bell.

St. Patrick's Day Greetings - you never know luck happens sometimes

May you all have a lucky day.

Eight years ago we certainly did on St. Patrick's Day.

It was the day we adopted Noelle from an animal shelter.
I had been on the search one of these.

When I spotted her at a flea market
on March 16, 2002
where the shelter had set up a booth.

Her cage said I'm Noelle, me and my
three friends have lost our home.

I called her name and she looked at me
in such a way I knew she would be perfect us.

All night I talked about her and her short
little legs.  A far cry from a German Shepherd.

We almost didn't get her, someone had
asked if they could put her on hold
until a family member could meet her.

It was a nasty day of sleet and snow
when shelter called, saying we don't know
where they are but, you can come see her again.

We arrived five minutes before the shelter closed.
She ran right to us.
The shelter staff found that interesting.

I guess the other people aren't comming.
She is yours if you would like to have her.

Absolutely!

Noelle is the most wonderful companion.
How's that for the ultimate flea market find.

Lucky us!

Hardly any pitting at all.
Beach House Living silver casserole 2-26-2010 (1)
It shined up rather nicely.
Beach House Living silver casserole 2-26-2010 (2)
It’s already housing a non blooming orchid with shells and moss around it.  Maybe, I’ll use it for a spring display instead of the big lidded jar that changes with the seasons.
It definitely needs more stuff to fill it….
I guess I will have to collect more treasures for it.

Thanks for dropping in.

All bottled up. New Finds of the week

Every once in awhile I get the chance to go to an auction.  It is so interesting to watch what dealers and other buyers gravitate to.

I've have been wanting to find more aqua bottles to put in our garden window along with little milk bottles.

Much to my surprise there were two boxes of lovely vintage and antique bottles at the auction.   Lots of people looked at them but only a few placed bids.  Guess who won?

I'd like to embellish some with vintage findings, crystals and others like a little beach in a bottle.

Some of them are 100 years old  made of hand blown glass.
There are few with pearlized areas but, I don't know what caused it.
Cobalt Milk of Magnesia and Bromo Seltzer

The aqua bottle in this picture is an old rounded bottom soda bottle.
The fluted ones say Julep on them.

Antique handblown ink bottle.

Box of vintage postcards and interesting items.

Gotta love that "for Ladies over 30" Special Party

Annual Insurance Premium for $7.75.  Don't we all wish?

Two old wood boxes in need of refurbishment.
The smaller one had tools in it.

My DB wanted this box of interesting items.

This is one of the items inside; an old envelope sealer that weights a lot.
Apparently this should have a roller inside the well and a lid.

He also spied this old pulley.  Vintage industrial kitchen item???

A box of old spools, and little jar of buttons.

The End!.

If anyone has any experience for cleaning out the old bottles I'd appreciate any tips.

Fun little finds and a bucket of paint brushes

Lace, buttons, and old sewing spools that still have wool on them. Two old dentist pans with dirt at no charge for our vintage dental cabinet. A perfect replacement for a silver plate serving piece that went missing in action.

More silver plate.

A small barrel of paint brushes and paint.

It seems like a lifetime ago where I spent hours in art supply stores. I would save my pennies and later devote part of my paychecks to purchase supplies.  Some of which are still around and stored someplace.

If I start up again I'm pretty well prepared at greatly reduced prices or I can use them in a flower frog display.

Or a vintage silver plated tea pot that is missing its lid.

Is there a craft or hobby that you enjoyed doing and for whatever reason don't anymore?

This weeks flea market and thrift finds

The old covered jello mold with all of its silver loss is still a neat container. Paperwhite bulbs might look nice too. A huge pewter shaker for cinnamon or cocoa.

The most interesting and expensive find was the belt made from old silverplated spoon handles with a server acting as a buckle. Not too sure what do with it. It was too unsual to pass up.
