Rustic Salty Nautical Decor Ideas

A few of salty nautical decor items I came across recently.

 A big spool of rope works as a side table.

A crusty anchor with shackle and chain for the garden.

An old oar with a whitewashed make over, great above a window.

Find a small wood dingy hang from ceiling and add some lights for a cool chandelier.

Nautical Home Decor - Ikea Summer 2014

 Hello everyone, it has been a very long time since I posted and in fact even longer posting more consistently.  I hope this finds you all healthy and well.  I am very rusty with blogging, so here goes.

This year Ikea adds some fun nautical theme designs in their summer 2014 catalog.

A simple stripe of latitude and longitude on bedding.  A matching elongated throw pillow which I really like is below.

Maybe a rope theme is more your style.

This a lightweight comforter.  Too bad it is not a duvet cover.

Photographic rope pillows would be great for a covered porch wouldn't they?

If you are feeling crafty, you can purchase some of this rope fabric and make your own pillows and table runners.

Fun buoy shaped pillow for your ship's staterooms.

Wipe off some sandy feet on one of these small throw rugs.

Turn almost any table into weathered wood one with this tablecloth. 

 Nautical placemats.

Hand towels for sticky hands.

Head to the beach with this navy blue beach towel and for fun bring along a fish pillow (below).

Display your beach finds in this wide mouth glass container.

Dine under the stars on a summer night with a strand of star shaped lights.

Semi DIY - Nautical and Mermaid Cabochon Magnets

Semi DIY refrigerator magnet makeover. Easy, peasy! Our refrigerator has a few magnets ranging from cooking measurements, to bare, plain and boring.  Mind you, there aren't many but, I wanted to get some that were of similar themes.

I didn't see ones I liked and remembered a shop on Etsy called Flora's Findings that was so helpful to me months before regarding shipping insurance.

Flora literally has hundreds of glass cabochon cameos in all sorts of themes that she makes. She offers setting frames for them separately that you glue the cabochon into. 

I only needed four maybe, six.  I couldn't decide what to get and ended up with ten!
 I went with two ships, four mermaids, and four lighthouses.

Flora included some care info with the cabochons.

Glue a good size magnet on the back using glue suitable for metals, and viola!  Your magnet board or refrigerator will have a mini makeover.

I like the ships the best.  What ones are your favorite?

Velvet pumpkins by Timewashed - beach white

I saw these particular velvet pumpkins from Timewashed featured by Completely Coastal I was smitten with the color described as sea mist shown in the center.  I don't buy many decorations since I prefer to use simple glass vases and lidded jars that can easily be changed for the season but, I have been wanting velvet pumpkins for some time, and so glad I waited to find these.

The sea mist color was sold out except for the petite one and, I snatched it up along with two white ones in larger sizes.  Becky of Timewashed was very detailed about how I wanted my pumpkins to look.  I went with fiber strands instead of shells.

When I opened the box this is what I saw.  Such sweet personal touches.  How much better could it get?

Well it did.  Each pumpkin was lovingly wrapped. 

I love them in all their, beachy, rustic, blingy glory.

Nautical window shopping

A few odds and ends with nautical flair I happened upon recently.

This large old wood spool of rope with more rope and pulleys draped on top of it.

Big wood anchor decorated in all sorts of knots and such.  While not a decoration I cared for I did appreciate the intricate work of making the knots.

I took these photos with my phone so the quality isn't the best but, you get the idea.

This big vintage lantern was really neat.

It had a big price tag too.

the white washed wood.....

I was in heaven.  

A different type of spool for smaller rope.

It had more of sisal look about it.

Swimming Pools

I would like to have a swimming pool someday. How about this one with a great view and a whirlpool feature.
 

This monster pool has water feature.  See the waterfall sides in the photo below.

This is a really a hot tub but I like the waterfall idea not necessarily those rocks though.

Lap pool with small pool combo.

Not sure about the Roman bath look but I like the separation between whirlpool and pool.

Simple and neat would work.

Swim without any sun but still be outside with this lap pool. 

The most plain design and a lap pool.
